Description
Herpes Zoster Vaccine is a vaccine used to prevent herpes zoster (shingles), a painful skin rash caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It stimulates the immune system and prevents the infection. The vaccine is recommended for adults aged 50 and older.
Herpes Zoster Vaccine is highly effective in preventing shingles (herpes zoster) and its complications, including postherpetic neuralgia, a persistent nerve pain that can occur after a shingles rash has healed. It is generally administered by a healthcare professional in the muscle of the upper arm. It is administered as a series of two doses, typically given two to six months apart. Make sure to get both the doses for maximum benefit.
Common side effects of Shingrix Vaccine include redness, pain, and swelling at the site of injection, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, shivering, fever, and gastrointestinal symptoms. These side effects are temporary and usually resolve on their own in some time. Consult your doctor if they bother you or get worse. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways to cope with the side effects.
