Picasa 40mg
Picasa 40mg oral suspension belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals. It works by stopping the growth of fungus and is used to treat fungal infection. It kills fungi by destroying the fungal cell membrane.
PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION contains Posaconazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungals. It is used in adults and pediatric patients of 13 years of age and older as a prophylaxis to manage fungal infections such as invasive aspergillus and candida infections in severely immunocompromised patients such as hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) or those with hematologic malignancies with prolonged neutropenia (low count of a type of white blood cell (neutrophils) due to chemotherapy.
It is also used to manage oropharyngeal candidiasis (fungal infections of the mouth and throat) including oropharyngeal candidiasis refractory to itraconazole and/or fluconazole in adults and pediatric patients of 13 years of age and older.
Before taking PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, problem with potassium, magnesium or calcium levels in the blood. Your doctor might want you to take certain blood tests prior to the management with PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION to understand the existing condition.
PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless advised by the doctor and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Safety and effectiveness of PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION have not been established in pediatric patients younger than 2 years of age and it should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION.
The most common side effects of taking PICASA 40MG SUSPENSION are headache, fever, rash, itching and constipation. Inform your doctor immediately if any of the side effect worsens.
